Teaching staff

A commitment to service

Capita works directly with schools, nurseries and Local Education Authorities in a variety of ways. In several areas we work in partnership with Local Education Authorities through preferred supplier agreements.

Meeting all of your staffing requirements, we can also provide a bespoke recruitment service to meet the changing needs of schools. This includes:

  • Stand-alone vetting service
  • Outplacements
  • Recruitment projects for start up schools (multiple vacancies)
  • Schools facing challenging circumstances
  • Middle/senior management
  • CRB (now DBS) Enhanced Disclosure checks undertaken by Capita
  • All other pre-employment checks
One of the largest networks of supply staff in the UK

As candidates are available for same day cover, short & long-term, part-time and even permanent positions, we can offer a flexible solution to all your staffing needs.

We understand the skills and experience schools require for temporary and permanent cover and aim to provide teachers and support staff who can fulfil these needs effectively - even at short notice. Every Capita teacher is inducted on how to meet the challenges of supply teaching and so arrives well prepared. Arriving promptly, they will deliver appropriate lessons to the pupils in their care, with the flexibility to adapt to the needs of your school environment.

One call solves it all

We know how stressful it is to discover first thing in the morning that you need emergency cover and that’s why our offices are fully staffed by 7.15am. We are committed to providing suitably experienced teachers, nursery nurses, teaching assistants and school support staff who will best meet your requirements within one hour of your call.

One freephone call is all it takes to solve any staffing problem you may have. Requests can be made at any time; our offices are open until 5.30pm, after which requests for staff can be left with our booking service. The request will be collected and processed at 7.15am the following morning. Call us with your requirements on 0800 731 6871.

The recruitment process

Capita Education Resourcing aims to ensure the well being of all children and staff and provides a full range of
pre-employment checks. Before our candidates are deployed on any assignment they have already completed a rigorous vetting process, which is summarised as:

Face-to-face, professional interview
ID check
Qualification check
CRB (now DBS) Enhanced Disclosure check
Health check
Reference check
Permission to Work

Training and Support

We strive to ensure the highest professional standards of teaching and learning wherever cover is needed. Behind every Capita teacher is a support infrastructure designed to help each one perform professionally and confidently. We provide in-service training, curriculum support and resource information as an integral part of our teacher support programme, along with pastoral support and counselling.

At Capita we are also committed to ensuring that all candidates have access to appropriate Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities. The effectiveness of all candidates is enhanced by knowledge building, training and mentoring, supported by professional resources and materials. Candidates are informed regularly about CPD seminars and are encouraged to attend. They can all access the internet and other resources in their local branch.
