At Capita Education Resourcing we understand that newly qualified teachers (NQTs) are value for money for your school and can bring with them enthusiasm and new ideas.
Some NQTs have difficulty finding the right school for their first role and many are happy to take the first role offered to them. At Capita we do our best to ensure that we find out about the individual candidate and the needs of the school so we can match both your and their requirements closely.
Provision of induction
CER recognises that newly qualified teachers require two distinct forms of induction when they start their career as a supply teacher.
-
Induction as detailed in DfES Circular 0458/2003 – The Induction Period for Newly Qualified Teachers
-
Capita Education Resourcing induction to help them understand the values and skills required for supply work
Capita’s Policy for Managing NQT Induction ensures that newly qualified supply teachers receive the same entitlement to formal, school-based induction as permanent staff if they are deployed for placements of a term or more.
At interview the consultant will ask for a photocopy of an NQT’s Career Entry Profile (CEP). This together with an NQT's references will help Capita to place them in an appropriate school according to their skills and abilities.
For general day-to-day supply work, the school will be informed that the teacher is a newly qualified teacher and Capita will take extra care in deploying him or her to schools that will be able to enhance his or her experience. For long-term placements of a term or more, consultants will check whether the placement will involve regular teaching of the same class(es) and gain the Headteacher’s prior written agreement to make provision for the NQT to follow an induction period for the duration of their stay at the school.
Capita’s own Teacher Support Programme provides NQTs with initial induction, monitoring, counselling and ongoing professional development opportunities.”
