Girls and boys should be educated separately, expert says

Individuals in teaching jobs may be interested to hear the latest comments surrounding the education of girls and boys.

According to MyDaughter.co.uk, girls and boys have different learning styles and as such should be taught separately.

Alison Morris, editor of the advice website, explained that girls tend to be more focused and successful when in a school environment.

She compares this to boys' learning style, which benefits from a more active, hand-on, practical approach which means that they tend to be "adventurous learners and less fearful of making mistakes".

"All this is yet another argument for teaching girls and boys separately. Different methods of teaching, more finely tuned expectations and gender-targeted work, all help both boys and girls flourish in the classroom," Ms Morris added.

The expert was speaking in the wake of recent research from the British Educational Research Association which found that girls believe they are cleverer, better-behaved and try harder than boys at school from the age of four or five.
