Northfleet School for Girls Co-operative Learning Trust based in Gravesend, DA11 8AQ are looking for a Teacher of English to start in September 2012. Salary between will be £20,000-£35,000.



As a Teacher of English (to A-Level) you will be part of the Communication & Culture

Domain - a cluster of subjects made up of English, MFL, History, RE and Citizenship.



English is a vital way of communicating in school, in public life and internationally. Literature in English is rich and influential, reflecting the experience of people from many countries and times.



In studying English, pupils develop skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing. It enables them to express themselves creatively and imaginatively and to communicate with others effectively. The study of English helps pupils understand how language works by looking at its patterns, structures and origins. Using this knowledge, pupils can choose and adapt what they say and write in different situations.

Knowledge, Skills & Personal Qualities:

- Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or studying towards a PGCE/GTP (NQT)

- Knowledge and understanding of subject area (English)

- Principles and practices of effective learning and teaching

- Preparation of schemes of work and lessons

- Principles and practices of monitoring, assessment and evaluation

- An ability to lead both students and colleagues in your specialist skills areas

- A good role model for behaviours and attitudes

- A sense of humour

- Strong behavioural management
