Qualified SEN Teacher required for September 2010.
Teaching SEN students across a range of abilities.
You will have a specialism in English and have experience of teaching within an EBD setting.
you will be responsible for
Maintaining classroom control through positive behaviour management.
Developing and adapting conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils;
Using specialist skills.
Assessing children who have long- or short-term learning difficulties, and working with colleagues to identify individual pupils' special needs;
Liaising closely with parents and guardians;
Liaising with other professionals, such as social workers, speech and language therapists and educational psychologists;
Reporting and recording all necessary information.
Being an active part of school and pastoral initiatives.
Typical work activities include:
Planning, preparing and delivering lessons individual pupils or small groups of pupils within, or outside, the class;
Marking work, giving appropriate feedback and maintaining records of pupils' progress and development;
Researching new topic areas and maintaining up-to-date subject knowledge;
Devising and writing new curriculum materials;
Selecting and using a range of different learning resources and equipment;
Developing and adapting conventional teaching methods to meet the individual needs of pupils;
Undertaking pastoral duties, such as taking on the role of form tutor, and supporting pupils.
