SEN TA'S required for Special School in Hackney

Capita are currently recruiting for two Teaching Assistants to work in a very successful mixed day special school for up to 100 pupils aged 11-16.



The first position is to cover Maternity leave within the school and is for a minimum of one term working within a class of 80% male students.



The second position is to work 1:1 with a Male Year 8 pupil this position would require someone who has a lot of energy and is not phased by extreme behaviour





The pupil's have complex and inter-related social and emotional, social communication or mental health needs affecting their ability to learn.



The majority of pupils will have one or more of the following:

A diagnosis of high functioning autism or Aspergers Syndrome (such that they can follow the National Curriculum, but have underlying difficulties in social communication and flexible thinking

Severe and persistent attendance issues in association with entrenched emotional, well-being and/or school phobia factors

Moderate learning difficulties with additional social/emotional difficulties and/or behaviour and/or significant speech & language difficulties such that they are unlikely to access mainstream secondary provision, but are able to access the National Curriculum;

Significant mental health difficulties affecting their ability to thrive in mainstream school

Significant specific difficulties with learning along with entrenched emotional issues affecting their ability to thrive in mainstream school

Speech & language difficulties along with entrenched emotional issues affecting their ability to thrive in mainstream school



Individual pupils are likely to demonstrate highly variable levels of ability such that they may have achieved age appropriate (or above) levels in one or more curricula/developmental areas, but well below average levels in others.
