An advanced Special Needs school in Barking & Dagenham, require an experienced Learning Support Assistant ( LSA ) to work across phase in their Lower and Middle school. The special school, which is situated near Dagenham Heathway, has over 300 pupils aged 3-19 with diverse learning difficulties such as Autism, Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD ), Moderate Learning Difficulties ( MLD ) and Hearing Impairment. This is a stimulating, highly supportive school and as such, all support staff are expected to be flexible and versatile enough to work in any class.
As an LSA, you will be working under the direct instruction of the teaching staff, to support access to learning for pupils and provide general support to the teacher in the management of pupils and the classroom. This role is suited to a candidate that can be enthusiastic, conscientious and always focused on the welfare of the children, who are the school's primary concern.
The ideal candidate will have experience of providing support to pupils within an SEN environment and be willing to develop their skills to the schools high standards of Continuous Professional Development ( CPD ). Health and safety are promoted in all aspects of school life and it is the support staff who are at the heart of this ethos. In this essential role you will be involved in assisting with pupils' physical needs, including hygiene and feeding. You will also be expected to provide vital support in therapy sessions, which help learners to increase their confidence, self-esteem and independence.
Above all candidates must demonstrate passion, reliability and a consistency of character that supports the teachers and provides the care and nurture the learners need to develop and mature.
