Our central government client has a 3 month requirement for a IT Project Manager to be based in either London / Coventry / Sheffield. Responsible for delivering projects related to continuous improvement of the services for which the Business Solutions Unit (BSU) is accountable for. The BSU Senior Project Manager will be accountable for supporting the development of plans for BSU projects to be delivered, including effort estimations, key milestones, detailed delivery estimates and budgetary information related to the project delivery.
Main Duties/ Responsibilities
Establishes and manages teams capable of delivering projects according to their intended business benefits. Ensures the individual team members have clearly understood objectives and manages individuals according to those objectives. Reports on project budget (actual and estimated) and resolves issues or risks threatening successful delivery to budget Identifies and resolves risks or issues threatening the successful delivery of the project. Ensures projects adhere to Gateway Requirements and the established project methodology of Chief Information Office Group (CIOG) Works effectively with suppliers when the delivery of project objectives is dependent on third party interaction. Is accountable for ensuring suppliers deliver according to the project objectives Engages with key stakeholders to determine requirements specifications, functional and technical designs and testing requirements. Communicates plans and progress with the BSU leadership team and governing bodies Ensures that effective governance mechanisms are established for the projects for which the Project Manager is accountable for Utilises existing specialism within Knowledge and Information Management to support promotion and development of collaborative technology within the education sector
Skills/ Experience Required
Essential o Experienced project manager with Agile project management skills o Knowledge of the government's digital strategy and transformation programme o Knowledge and practical understanding of managing IT business change projects o Business analyst skills to determine business improvements; and benefits and constraints Desirable o Experience of project managing digital technology and IT business change projects to the education & skills sector o Knowledge of the education sector (including its policies) including the schools, FE, HE and skills sectors.
