To contribute to the teaching and learning at this short stay school, and to deliver high quality provision enabling pupils using the school to make progress.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
- HLTA qualification or equivalent (e.g. degree) in a relevant field (e.g. Psychology)
- Experience as a teaching assistant or learning support assistant in a primary/secondary school, pupil referral unit or special school.
- Experience of managing challenging pupils and behaviour management strategies
-The National Curriculum (key stages 1, 2 or 3 )
As a 'Regulated Activity' an enhanced CRB is essential. Cost met by applicant.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Health and Safety:
To contribute to ensuring that pupils are in a safe environment and that health and safety issues are addressed.
To have regard to the implementation of child protection policy at the school.
Staff management
To take part in performance management and staff training according to departmental policies.
To provide support for supply teachers employed at the school.
Pupil management
To maintain good discipline, using the agreed policies and procedures for behaviour management
To contribute to the general supervision of pupils at the school.
To supervise pupils removed from the classroom at the school.
To organise induction programmes for pupils entering the school and provide support to pupils during their induction.
To plan and deliver programmes of behaviour support to individual pupils in the school.
Curriculum delivery
To administer assessment of pupils entering the school.
To provide administration support to teachers with the assessment and tracking process in the school, ensuring that pupils' progress data is recorded.
To provide short term cover as necessary when teachers in the school are absent.
To plan and provide home tuition as required for pupils based at the school.
To provide in-class support for pupils at the school.
To provide one-to-one learning and behaviour support as required to pupils in the school.
Organisational Monitoring, Evaluation and Planning
To contribute to the process of self-evaluation and improvement planning.
To contribute as a team member to the organisation and development of the school, including attendance at staff meetings
