Capita Education is currently working in partnership with St Catherine's Catholic School based in Bexleyheath (Kent) to appoint a Director of Learning to start in September 2012.
With a supportive and inspirational Head Teacher, St Catherine's Catholic School is a highly successful oversubscribed 11-16 Girls Catholic Comprehensive School with 1058 pupils on roll. With high quality accommodation and resources, a recent Ofsted inspection rated St Catherine's as an excellent school.
As St Catherine's is a Catholic school, the Director of Learning should endeavour to maintain and develop the Catholic character of the school in all their activities.
A focus on sustaining high performance, provision of outstanding teaching and learning and strategies for raising standards further is essential to this role.
The successful candidate will support the Head Teacher in managing the school and contribute to the strategic vision and the development of the school. As part of the Senior Leadership Team you will have responsibilities for the overall management of staff and resources, finances, buildings, equipment and others, to ensure that all students are enabled to achieve and make good progress. This will include a shared responsibility for staff support regarding matters of student behaviour management and participating and supporting staff in carrying out their duties
Knowledge and Skills:
*Be committed to the aims and ethos of the Catholic School
*Have a good honours degree (or equivalent) and QTS
*Be able to demonstrate strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills and committed to raising standards
*Have a thorough understanding of the role of data in raising achievement
*Have experience of managing budgets and financial planning
*To have a current and up to date knowledge of curriculum development initiatives and teaching methodology.
*Possess drive and ambition with aspirations towards promotion to deputy headship and headship
