Administrative Assistant



Required from September 2012



37hrs per week - 8.15am-4.15pm term time + 2 weeks



H4 £16,830 pro rata (actual £14,720)



Tring School in Hertfordshire is looking for a hardworking and well organised Administrative Assistant for a permanent job to give general support to the Headteacher's PA, Director of Achievement and senior colleagues.



Specific Duties include:





  • Supporting the Headteacher's PA with day to day administrative tasks


  • Assist with the recruitment process including construction and insertion of advertisements


  • Assist with procedures in relation to Personnel ensuring all necessary safeguarding checks are in place


  • Maintain the school's Single Central Record in accordance with Safeguarding guidelines


  • Provide administrative support to Director of Achievement and other senior colleagues




- Sending letters and communications to parents



- Organise presentation boards



- Organising booklets



- Assist with KS3 and 4 events



- Filtering and editing excel spreadsheets



- Arranging appointments



- Liaising with outside agencies





  • Maintain confidentiality at all times in regard to information relating to the school including staff and students




You need to be pro-active, able to use own initiative, work under pressure and to deadlines with attention to detail.



The right candidate should have at least two years office experience, a good working knowledge of ICT systems including Word, Excel and Powerpoint and possess excellent organisation and communication skills.



Required Qualifications, Experience and Skills:





  • 5 GCSEs or equivalent


  • 2 years' office experience


  • Good working knowledge of ICT systems


  • High standard of office practice


  • Ability to work under pressure and work to deadlines


  • Ability to work as a team and on own initiative


  • Accuracy and attention to detail


  • Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times in regard to information relating to the school, including staff and students


  • Ability to adopt flexible working practices


  • Understanding the needs of children
